I hope everyone has planned a special day for the moms in your lives. I am taking my wife to brunch in the morning. In the afternoon we are having a get together for all the moms in our family. Is it just me or is anyone else bothered by the fact that we can’t enjoy one family holiday without the next one in line being shoved down our throats? Every year the holiday merchandise is rolled out earlier and earlier. Of course this is not a new development, it’s been going on for some time. But it sure seems that retailers have stepped up the pace in the last few years. It’s as if they are in a race to see who can irritate consumers the most. AND I for one am irritated!

I hope you were able to spend time with friends and family today. We just returned from my Mothers. We had a huge family gathering. Dinner was awesome. Tomorrow my wife and I are having my Dad over for dinner along with both my sisters and their families. Turkeyday all over again! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving.

I can’t believe it’s Halloween already! We plan on passing out candy, then we are going to make some popcorn and watch scary movies! My daughter is going to a costume party Saturday night, so my wife and I are going to enjoy a nice dinner out. Hope you have a FUN and SAFE Halloween!

Just in case you’re wondering, you can thank Anna Marie Jarvis (1864-1948) for all her hard work and effort to establish Mothers Day as a National Holiday. Anna worked tirelessly for this cause following the death of her mother on May 9, 1905. President Woodrow Wilson signed the proclamation designating the Second Sunday in May as “Mothers Day” on May 14, 1914.
