Frustrated parents in Nebraska are abandoning their children at local hospitals. Yes, you read that correctly. Little Johnny didn’t eat his peas? Sassy Marie, mouthing off? Lazy Mickey not taking out the trash? Fear not, just anonymously abandon them at the nearest hospital. That’s it, like dropping off your clothes at the cleaners. Free from prosecution. Smells of bad government gone crazy, again.

So today I’m at work and my cell rings. I look and it’s my daughter. That’s strange, I thought, it was only 11:30AM. Then I remembered she was out of school today. I answered and listened to my panicked daughter tell me she had just been in an accident. “Are you OK? Is everyone OK? What happened?”, I nervously asked. As it turned out, she had rear-ended the truck in front of her. This after a third car had cut across three lanes and made a right-hand turn, at 35 MPH, in front of that truck. He nailed the breaks and my daughter slammed into him. The driver of the car took off. A sort of hit and run.

There are times when an opportunity comes your way and you’re unsure. And then there are times when you don’t have to think at all. This is one of them. When approached by John to write a guest post, I immediately told him yes. Who wouldn’t with such a well written blog?
So here I am, writing from my blog: My Life as it Was, Is, and Will Be. I’m excited to be sharing a post with you. Thanks, John, for the opportunity.

A couple of weeks ago my daughter approached me about having a “End of the School Year” party. As I sunk back in my recliner, my eyes glazed over, I began experiencing a really vivid flash back from parties long ago. As I came to, wiping the sweat from my brow, I asked “What kind of party?” For those of you with kids in their late teens, you can probably relate to the thoughts flowing through my brain at warp speed. “I don’t know, just a party” she so innocently replied.

Kids today seem to be so self absorbed. Into everything about “me”. On the surface they just don’t seem to care about much except the latest Hollywood gossip and whatever the latest drama bomb their friends have just dropped. I think our culture is on the skids and much has to do with the horrendous condition of our school system, both public and private. Now that I have depressed everyone in the room, let me share a bright spot with you.

This just in! The cost to send your new born to an in-state public college 18 years from now will be at least $163,890. This according to the college calculator at money.com. This is the estimate for a 4 year public college, nothing special, not ivy league. Are you as shocked as I am?

This past weekend my wife and I took a long weekend getaway to Georgia. We left Friday morning and returned Sunday evening. Our trip was multi-purposed. First my daughter had stayed with her Aunt, one of my sisters, for spring break. We needed to pick her up and bring her home. Also, my sister and her husband just had a baby boy nine weeks ago, and we wanted to meet our new nephew! My other sister and her two boys met us for the weekend. So, we had one of those family get-togethers that I’ve been telling you about.

I didn’t intend to send this post so late. My wife and daughter are gone this weekend to my sisters’ house to visit my new born nephew! They left Friday. My daughter is staying the week down there for spring break. My wife should be home tonight. Next Friday we are both going to pick her up, so I can meet him, as well. That being said, I have had a nice size to-do list this weekend! So I have been running between the computer and chores all day! But don’t feel bad, we had our family Easter Dinner last Sunday. I cooked a turkey with all the fix-ins! What a meal!
