Ohhh! That’s a very tall and gigantic cactus! LOL
Haven’t seen like that one before. I only saw those small cute little ones in our place. I bet these kinds usually grow in the desert. ;)

The Saguaro Cactus only grows one (1) inch per year. So it is probably only about a foot taller then when we were standing there. It takes 75 years to grow one of those “side arms”. AND the cactus can live to be 150 years old. That concludes today’s class… :)

Funny you should mention “Prickly” after my whole ‘Condom’ fiasco! I surly hope you get a better response to this fantastic pictorial imagery, than I did with my ‘foldie’.

You should not be so hard on yourself Don. ;) I don’t think it was a fiasco at all. Great story! It could be worse, you could have been visiting the doctor for “shooting blanks”… then you wouldn’t have needed to pocket the condoms…:) LOL

How ironic! My first trip to Arizona was for some software training for a week in 1996. It wasn’t exactly silicon valley, but close. Our instructor, in shorts and sandals, gave us the grand tour of Tucson. We took long lunches at the locals only restaurants, where he filled us in on all the cool things to do in the area. He would release us everyday around 3:00 (we started at 7:00) and the class would follow him out into the desert to watch the sunset. OR to Old Tucson Studios, where many of the great westerns and TV shows were filmed. OR to the Sonora Desert Museum, which is one of the coolest places on earth, BTW! Everyday was a different adventure! I was hooked! That’s how my family ended up on vacation there in 1999. We have returned twice since. I could go on and on…. :) Sounds like a post!

Here I go again with a story that I read recently. ;o) Cactus are fast becoming a favorite of eco-smugglers. Apparently there are people out there that will pay large sums of money for mature cactus. I imagine these are landscapers, developers, and the like who want to add mature plant features to their homes and offices. They say that the problem is so severe that it is actually threatening certain cactus populations in some areas. I have a feeling though that the one in your picture is quite safe. ;o) take care my friend.

Can you believe that was over 10 years ago John? How time flies. They look like good kids, and just to think someday they will be taking care of you, lol. Kidding of course, you’ll end up in an old bloggers home with the rest of us, not being able to hold a conversation without a keyboard, depends and a bib. Kidding of course, You’ll end up in the restricted old bloggers home with Chute, both of you tossing old condoms back and forth, kidding of course, hmmm or am I?
