The Big Storm

Storm napping

We were very apprehensive about getting a second kitty. We had no idea how our other two babies would react. What if they absolutely hated him? Or, what if they became insanely jealous? What if they wanted to see him dead? :) We had all those worries and more, prior to bringing home little Storm. As I shared with you in Introducing A New Kitten Into Your Home , he is an adorable little guy, full of personality. Well, he’s bigger now and his personality really shines! He is the center of attention at our house. He teases our puppy Missy. He torments our kitty Precious. But, at the end of the day, they all three seem to really love each other and get along great!

Our babies hanging with us!Don’t get me wrong, Storm is a little terror. He comes whipping into a room, top speed, leaps 3 feet in the air and lands on the back of the sofa. Without stopping, he runs up the wall, does a back flip, lands on the sofa cushion, bounces in the air, landing on the floor. He quickly scans the room and takes off down the hall. All this in less than five seconds! I think he was an acrobat in a previous life. Our other two babies just watch him go ripping through the house. Every once in a while Missy will look over at me as if to say “He is soooo gonna get in trouble!”

Every morning and throughout the day, Precious and Storm spar in our family room. This is where the pictures below were taken. It usually lasts 5 to 10 minutes. They beat the tar out of each other. When Precious is done, she lets Storm know with a firm hiss and a swat across the face. She promptly leaves the room. It’s a riot! Storm usually follows her and then he REALLY gets it. He then takes a nap. The only evidence of what just transpired are several piles of grey and black fur balls. This happens several times a day, everyday!

Missy and Precious became fast friends with Storm. All three nap together. And if the kitty death match becomes too intense, Missy will bark and nudge them apart. Seriously. Missy doesn ‘t like violence, I’m thinking. :) She makes a good referee and an awesome big sister! Precious has become much more affectionate since Storms arrival. She used to be somewhat reclusive, but now she hangs out with us every night. So, Storm has turned out to be an awesome addition to our family and our worries were all for nothing.

How about you, have you added an additional pet to your home? How did it work out?

Here are some pictures of our babies!

Storm and Precious look very cute together!
I like the color of Storm’s fur.

We used to have pets before but we no longer have one now.
I planned to buy a new pet but I would be having trouble due to my work schedule. I am living alone these days so nobody else would have to take care of a pet.

Yeah Junezach, it’s tough to have pets when you’re working al the time , without anyone around to care for them. Although, I think if we left our cats alone for a while, they might have a good game of poker going upon our return! :) They’re VERY independent!

You bet he is Wilmaryad! He loves to cuttle in our laps first thing in the morning and late at night. When he’s not terrorizing our house, that is! :)

It sounds like everyone’s settling in nicely and you’re having a lot of fun observing the process! Our three cats have an occasionally uneasy truce – Sparkle and Binga both think they’re top cat, but they never fight over it for very long, and more often than not everyone will spend the afternoon napping on the bed. We fostered a kitty for a while a few years back, and having that fourth cat really upset the whole household! We loved that little girl and my boyfriend and I were weepy when we gave her up to the woman who took her in (I think even the kitty was a little weepy – she loved us too), but the cats? Ha! They were more than happy she was gone, the callous little creatures.

That’s too funny Janiss! I don’t see adding a fourth to our mix either! I think three is the perfect balance. I don’t think the others would have it!

Enjoyed reading about your pets here and so glad to hear that Storm has found a forever home with you and gets along. Our two cats like to spar with each other too and our dog also acts as a referee and breaks up the fights. It’s so funny!

    Who’s allergic?
Who mends the furniture, when used as a scratching post?
    Who vacuums the fur balls?
    Who cleans the cat yack?
    Who polices the kitty litter?

    I love cats, I really do 8>/

Well now you are talking my language, cats and kittens. I am so glad that yours are getting along all right. That Storm sounds like a wild thing. We have some of those around here. Luckily all mine can go outside and climb trees and do cat things. But they do get going in the house too. I have a suggestion for you that is so much fun. Get a laser light that is a tiny little flashlight and it has a red light. The kittens go crazy over that thing. They know where I keep it and beg for me to get it out. You just let them chase the light around . You can get one at the WalMart. Have fun.

I think our cats were separated at birth. They look the same, and I had much of the same experience bringing “Smokey” into my home. Great pictures, BTW.

Several years ago we had 1 Golden Retriever and 2 Kitty Cats. They got along famously, never any problems with the group and it was comical to watch them.

I LOVE Golden Retrievers Buggys! But don’t tell Missy! ;) My previous dog Sandy was raised with cats and LOVED them, as well. It’s a myth that dogs and cats can’t get along!

Your pets are lovable. Storm and Precious look adorable in their bonding err sparring moments…It is really nice having pets in the house. I miss our little kitty. She has three colors in her face. White on the right, black in the middle and brown in the left. Kitty was lost. We went out for a few days and we left her under the care of a neighbor when we came back, the neighbor said the kitten is lost. huhuhu…

Kitty cats do need friends. I remember going with my cousin when she got two kittins from the pound. They put the carry box on the floor because my cousin knew that she was going to go home with one. They put the one kitten in the box to see how it would react. Then the other kitten jumped in the box too. She had been trying to decide between two kittens on who would be going home with her. Let’s just say that they both went home with her after the other one jumped in the box.
