About a month ago, a comment on one of my posts caught my eye. It was a funny quip, short and sweet. Like I tend to do, I followed the author back to his blog and read his latest post. I had a few laughs, got side tracked and moved on. A few days later, I noticed the same guy had left another comment. Following that, I started noticing his comments all over the place. Sometimes short and sweet, sometimes long and detailed, but almost always thought provoking, funny and REAL. I decided to give his blog a second look.
As I was reading through some of his previous posts, I happened upon,
I Want To Talk About Me, I Want To Talk About Mine… I have to say, this one touched me.
The author was Don E. Chute. I contacted Don and we have been writing back and forth ever since. His blog has become one of my favorite stops. Don is intense, straight forward and Real. There’s no candy coating. No BS. Well…maybe some BS, but it’s Funny BS. He’s opinionated AND at DonEChute.com everyone is entitled to Don’s opinion. It’s his domain. There are no grey areas. It’s black and white baby. Brutally honest, painfully sincere, incredibly funny, Don will grab you by your senses.
And that’s exactly what Don’s post, “I blog, I’m Homeless”, did to me. When I first read it, I thought, IS he serious OR just BS’ing? I read it again. I went back and read “I Want To Talk About Me” again. I wrote Don and asked, “What’s the deal are you being serious, sarcastic or both?” Don basically stated:
It’s kinda, just…
-A take-off, on the “I blog, I care” movement
-An attempt at satire, sarcasm.
-Irreverence, frustration, hopelessness, hopefulness.
-A social experiment.
AND with that I decided to join Don’s movement. I’m posting his post and I hope you will consider doing the same. I’m trying to offer a helping hand to Don in these trying times. AND I’m confident that when he is able, he will “Pay if Forward…”
Show the world you care! Be a part of the “I Blog, And Don E’s Homeless, Movement.”
Here are the rules on how to join:
- Copy the “I Blog, And Don E’s Homeless” link, and the rules (1 to 6) on this page.
- Post these in one or all your blogs.
- Tag/invite your other friends to join by sharing this with them.
- Leave your post’s URL here.
- For every blog, or anyone for that matter(are you listening George Clooney), joining the “I Blog, And Don E’s Homeless Movement”, any donation will be given directly to Don E. 100% of all proceeds, go directly to Don E. No middlemen. No advertising/overhead, expenses. Or you can go directly here; I dunno, is he kiddin, or serious?
- Spread the love and show you care.
You might as well. Just like me, you have nothing to lose. And if enough of us join in, Don E. might not be HOMELESS, for much longer. And knowing him, He will “pay it forward”, when he’s back on his feet!

I like that you’ve done this John.
“When I first read it, I thought, IS he serious OR just BS’ing? I read it again. I went back and read “I Want To Talk About Me” again”
That makes me feel as though you’ve written this post after looking over my shoulder as that was my reaction too.
Don has certainly had an impact around the entrecard traps, I do hope things improve for him soon.

I sent Don a very small donation. I just don’t have any money myself. I hope all this helps him out some. I will look into posting this too.

Thank you Marg. I can tell you from my many conversations with Don that he IS not looking for a hand out, but rather, a hand up. He is acutely aware of his personal responsibility to “Pay it Forward” when he is back on his feet. I think that it’s wonderful you were able to make a donation. I know Don and his son REALLY appreciate it. I hope others will do the same. Thanks again and God Bless You.

Wow, what an interesting (and tough) story to read. Best of luck to you in this endeavour–a friend can mean a lot–and best of luck to Don to get back on his feet.

Thanks Joseph, I’m sure Don appreciates the support! I think it was tough for Don to write, as well.
