Top 10 Entrecard Droppers: January 2010
I’m going to mix things up a little this month. Following my post Mail Bag: Entrecard Woes I did a lot of thinking on how to make my recognition of the Top Droppers more fair. Thanks to everyone for all the feedback. I think we all came to the conclusion that the top 10 as listed on Entrecard’s site is based purely on luck and timing. With that being said, I came up with “The New Deal.” No, I’m not going to turn over my Entrecard credits to the government and let them redistribute them as they see fit. What I have decided to do is use random.org to pick 10 numbers between 1 and 25. They were as follows: 21, 5, 25 11, 17 13, 23, 2, 8 & 19, picked in that order. I then took the Entrecard top 25 RSS feed from 2/1 and grabbed the links to create my Top 10 Entrecard Droppers for January 2010.
The New Deal
- Monthly Give-A-Way is now 2000ec’s
- Pick 10 random sites from the top 25
- Each blog will receive 100ec’s
- Added blog description
- Pick 1 random number between 1 and 25
- Award that blog 1000ec
- Give some Link Love to the top 10
I think I have built a better mouse trap!

There we go again. I never missed a single day dropping on your site for the month of January 2010. In fact, I dropped 31 cards during the 31 days of January.
Maybe my blog was not included because your Top 10 droppers all dropped 30 during the last 31 days and I’m the only one who dropped 31.
Seriously though, I think Entrecard stats system has problem.

Eli, not that it will make you feel any better, but you were #9 on the Top 10 list. So, if I had done my normal post you would have made the list…All sites 1-25 are showing 30/30 this month? But, hey, last February, the Top 10 all displayed 31/31? I just take it to mean either 30/30 or 31/31 is perfect attendance.
Also, I ran across 3 sites with 30/30 that were not on the 1-25, so I had at least 28 sites with perfect drops!
At least you will get some link love for your comment!
That’s more than I can say for the winners of the past 3 months 1000ec prize, who never even bothered to leave a comment, say thank you, nothing. SO thanks for taking the time, again, Eli! Maybe next month!!!

I think it’s extremely nice of you to do this. I know it takes A LOT of time putting this together and whether it’s worth it is for you to decide. Obviously, your loyal droppers love it!

Love the site, keep up the good work.
The best dropping I do is only 10-15 times a month. Don’t think I’ll ever make your top 25.

Did you know, that FDR was actually trying to come up with a, second new deal? But, that is besides the point.
I will probably never make, your New Deal, for reasons I will not delve into here. Suffice it to say however, that I will endure to READ, your Writings, and LEARN, from them. Every-now-and-then, I will leave a brief, poignant comment. To hopefully stir the senses, of all.

Bad luck Eli – it’s always the way isn’t it? At least in future – if entrecard decides you are 11 or 12 you will still have an equal chance to be top of the pops

Sounds like a good plan. That seems fair to choose randomly. Especially if everyone is dropping the same amount – so as to give everyone a fair chance.

I think it’s a great idea, but I’ve noticed that most don’t thank you for the recognition. That’s just what I’ve noticed. Both for weekly advertisers and for top droppers. I continue to thank them, but very little feedback.

Sadly, I must agree with you CP. Most months, I only get a small handful of responses to my Top Droppers post. In fact, the past 3 months (4 including this post), the random winner of 1000ec never bothered to thank me, acknowledge it or anything. I have considered dropping the monthly post, as it doesn’t seem to be appreciated. It takes me 2-3 hours per day for 3.3 days to earn 1000ec and I don’t get so much as a scr*w you. Depressing. But then again, I get many great comments like yours and the others seen on this post and I change my mind…
Maybe next month I will announce the 1000ec winner and NOT actually transfer the credits…just to see if they come asking for them…then again…why bother.

Random numbers makes no sense to me what so ever. Either a person is or isn’t one of the top droppers, picking numbers out of hat on any given day doesn’t seem to accomplish much, and obviously left out the person who was your top dropper. So, how does that solve a problem.
Scratches head and goes on about dropping rounds…limited as they are being out of town, different computer and without proper browser etc.

Sandy, it makes no sense to me, that it makes no sense to you.
I have 25+ blogs that drop on me EVERYDAY 31/31 days. The Entrecard Top 10 list only gives you the 10 most recent top droppers (lucky ones). The other 15 FAITHFUL, EVERYDAY droppers NEVER get any recognition. By randomly picking 10 out of the 25, I am LEVELING THE PLAYING FIELD.

I guess that is a nifty idea. By using that to level the field. That way others can get recognition as well. I get the point.

Hello! I feel compelled to state for the record that I visit your blog, but do not comment. This isn’t about not making your top ten list, I don’t care about that. This is about me being accused of cheating on another website. So let me make it perfectly clear that I do visit, and do drop, but I do not necessarily read every single EC blog, nor comment – good lord, who has time for that?
