Winter snowstorm in New York

Yesterday was the winter solstice and shortest day of the year. The temperature hovered in the thirties here in Virginia Beach. This past weekend, the East Coast was hit with what many dubbed a “Historic Snowfall”. Long Island, New York got 26 inches. Not here in Virginia Beach though, we only received a light dusting. No more than a 1/2 inch. Bummer.

In fact, the snow storm was so insignificant, I forgot to take a picture. If you have been around for a while, you know that’s really unusual. I take pictures of everything!

The lack of snowfall was disappointing, but I really feel sorry for the school children. The local weather forecasters had everyone believing we were going to be buried alive in snow. All the kids thought that school would be closed on Monday morning. No such luck. I think there is a better chance that I will win the Mega Millions than the weather man has of getting our forecast right. Maybe next time.

So what was the weather like where you live? Did you get hit by the blizzard? OR are you basking in the sunshine?

John

Glad the days will start getting longer again–I hate coming home from work in the dark! UGH!

    Hello John,
I could not even imagine living in a place that snowed again. I grew up in Idaho and have not missed snow even a little bit. ;o) Stay warm over there my friend.

Luckily we don’t get much snow here David. I’m glad we don’t have to deal with it very often!

We got all the rain from that storm before it moved up the coast here in SC. The last couple of days has been gorgeous here but now it is supposed to rain again tomorrow.
Hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a super New Year.

Around here (Chicago), we got almost 7 inches of snow today. I was loving being outside to snow blow the driveway and take our dog for a walk. Everything is so quiet and pristine right after a large snowfall, just like the picture you posted with this blog.
