Every year at this time I find myself thinking about my family and how fortunate we are to have each other. How wonderful it is to have loved ones who care for you and whom you deeply care about. It is also the time of year I find myself thinking of those less [financially] fortunate than our family. AND how we can help others and make a difference in someones life. As it happens, I was logging into BlogCatalog today and came across the Bloggers Unite, Brown Bag Project. The projects objective is to give the gift of food to those who are hungry. A worthy cause, in my opinion, especially in [financial] times like these.
The Brown Bag Project is asking bloggers to help someone in need and spread the word on November 21, 2009.
Ways You Can Help
- Pack a meal and deliver it to a family in need.
- Donate food to your local food bank.
- Donate money to your local food bank.
- Hold a food drive at your school, church or business.
I am going to go through my cupboards and pack a bag or two to deliver to the Southeast Food Bank. We are also going to make an online contribution. I encourage you to do the same. YOU can make a difference.
Of course, you need not be limited to helping out on November 21st. Hunger is a year around problem that knows no dates and has no boundaries. Every effort counts, but we have strength in numbers. So get involved!
Hunger Facts
- An estimated 1 billion people in the world are chronically hungry.
- Worldwide, 5000 children die every day of hunger or diseases resulting from hunger.

Hi John,
My oldest daughter came home from school and said they needed cans of food to help people in need. So I sent a bag full with her to take to school and give for this great cause. It was a good feeling! Nobody should have to go without food in their tummy. I do feel for all the children and people who go hungry in this world.

A great cause. Those of us who are fortunate enough should always donate and help out the less fortunate. Never know if that might be you someday.

This is a great idea to get people thinking about the other people that aren’t as fortunate. if everyone takes part, then there will be lots of people that don’t go hungry during these holidays. Super post.
