Did you hear? How did I miss this? You would think at least one of the networks would have dedicated some of their precious little time to this tragic event. I’m not naive. I know the multi-national media conglomerates need to report on important world events such as North Korea threatening to launch test missiles at Hawaii.
Or the popular uprising and subsequent obliteration of all dissent in Iran. I can even see giving a little air time to small developing stories like the US unemployment rate rising to nearly 10%. But can’t the media moguls designate just a little time to Michael Jackson? A life tribute of some sort, highlighting his accomplishments as “the worlds greatest entertainer”, would have been nice. After all, he was such a great role-model to our nations yout…oh..right..that wasn’t MJ. Anyway, my point remains the same. Mr. Moderator, a little more MJ please and a little less hard news. I don’t mean to be rude, but if I wanted to know about North Korea’s reclusive dictator Kim Jong-il’s plans to wipe out Hawaii, I’d pick up a newspaper, thank you very much.
What do you think? Should the media have paid more attention to Michael Jackson’s untimely death and less attention to “filler” pieces?
My name is John.

I am assuming that this is extreme sarcasm, and I appreciate the position. If there had been any more MJ on TV I think I would have barfed!

Yes Tina, I am being extremely sarcastic. Not only am I completely sick of hearing about MJ (more specials are planned for this weekend, oh joy) but I think many, many, valid – REAL news stories are being skimmed over. OR worse, being completely ignored. There are other more important things happening in the world right now and MJ has been covered from every angle imaginable and then some. I am turning off and tuning out until they quit covering this story, much the same way I did with Lacy Peterson. Peace out.

Lol john good stuff. They are still showing specials and he has been gone two weeks. Now they are saying he might have been murdered. Not thrilled about the north korea news being on the west coast.

Thanks Tim. What kills me is the media has been running with “Breaking News” since the day of his death…with little news having been uncovered. With the exception of the latest whisperings of murder. Next he will be spotted in a bowling alley with Elvis…his death just a government cover-up. OR maybe a tape will surface of MJ playing poker with Elvis, Kurt Cobain and other tortured souls, all having paid a secret CIA-like company to permanently remove them from society, helping them to deal with their super stardom. AND yes, Korea’s some scary sh!? Forget what happened to MJ as a child…I want to know what Kim Jong-illin’s daddy did to him when he was just a little illin. That documentary might make me turn my TV back on.

John, I almost thought you are kidding me until I read some of the other comments and your replies. I have seen a lot of bloggers blogging about his death and over here, the TV even did a live telecast of the service.

BK – I didn’t watch the service. Am I the only one who’s sick of hearing about MJ. Most of the blogs I’ve seen, as well as traditional media, just go on and on about how great he was. Granted, he was an extremely talented individual. Okay. But how much can be said and how long do we need to talk about it?

I don’t have TV here so I’m not suffocated through televised media. I’M still totally sick of hearing about MJ.
The web, the radio, it’s everywhere. And some of the things that are being ‘reported’ are so off the wall that it’s just plain ludicrous.

Well i understand this ironic post. I was also tired of giving such a attention to MJ’s death. It seems like world is eager for such a news, and media likes to feed the people to make them satiate from time to time.

Where were you talking about the world’s greatest entertainer before he died? You’re just like Al Sharpton.

Damn, you got me…yup…just like Al Sharpton. I think you missed my point…I don’t give 2 cents about “the world’s greatest entertainer”. I wish everyone would shut up about him. He was just a man. He’s dead. Get over it.
