I highly agree with your China comment. In my opinion, ever since the '90s Asia has been buying into the US co. by co. Will the time come when they buy into the US as one big corporation. Yes. Right now China and India are the biggest growing middle classes in the world. What does that say. It says their currency is beginning to be of greater value in their economies, than our currency is for the US.

This is a great article. The bailout may and may not be helpful. I agree it may soften the blow temporarily but at what cost and what benefit. More debt for taxpayers and more avoidance behavior. If a bailout is a solution to avoid further financial meltdown then I would be in favor of it but I do not believe it is the solution. I know there are lots of expert opinions on both sides. If we are bailing anyone out, I prefer to fall on the side of bailing out actual people. Imagine the positive and immediate impact $700 billion bailout for adult American citizens could have.

While these are indeed turbulent times, it's essential that everyone respond with reason to the economic crisis we're facing worldwide. Thanks for a balanced and focused article. You might want to also check out the one I recently posted on my blog. It discusses the return on investment between stocks, real property and art.

I know it is definitely scary, I just don't know what their solution will be. I know you broke down a bunch of interesting facts and what they are thinking may or may not work, it will just depend on what they will actually do.
I am sure we all knew this day was coming, but it still doesn't prepare us for it and unfortunately the tax payers are the ones that get hammered. While the government still spends more many than we really know on god knows what, or what they only allow us to know about.

Thanks Mike, I agree, reading and talking about things really helps. And, your perspective on how to handle these hard times was great.
